Yes. Semble has been developed in conjunction with New Zealand’s biggest banks and meets international standards for security. The Semble Ready SIM that holds your personal data has been encrypted to the same global standards as the chip on your plastic bank cards.

Semble offers you the choice to set additional layers of security. You can choose to enter your 5 digit Semble Security Code each time you open Semble. You can also choose to use the built-in screen lock on your phone, giving you two layers of protection.

No. In fact Semble offers additional security over your regular wallet or purse because you can set a 5 digit Security Code to secure Semble, as well using as your phone’s built-in security features such as screen lock, or in newer phones a thumbprint ID. Find out more about Semble's security.

This information is held on your Semble Ready SIM, which is encrypted to the same global security standards as the chip on your plastic banking cards. No personal banking data is stored in Semble.

Fraud compensation is managed by your bank’s policy relating to zero liability for customers. Banks provide the same level of fraud cover for transactions made with Semble as they do for plastic cards. We advise you to speak to your bank for more information.

Semble will not see the transactions you make or have visibility of your private banking information. Your personal banking information (card number and details) that is held securely on the SIM is encrypted. Using NFC, the SIM will securely send your banking information to the payment terminal to complete your purchase in the same way a plastic contactless card does.  

Call your mobile network provider to suspend your Semble account. You will also need to call your service providers to block the cards you have in Semble.

No. Contactless payment terminals have a limited range. Your phone needs to be within a couple of centimetres of the payment terminal for a transaction to take place.
